International Symposium on Food and Health

International Symposium on Food and Health — from Measurement Science to Quality and Safety

On 10 November 2011, the Government Laboratory (GL) organised an international symposium on food and health with a theme on how measurement science could enhance the quality and safety of food and pharmaceutical products. The Symposium attracted about 300 participants from different disciplines including analytical professionals, academics, medical doctors, and members of various government and non-governmental agencies. The Symposium composed of a Plenary Session and two specific Sessions A and B. Session A covered the latest global development and challenges of measurement science in assuring quality and safety of food while Session B focused on the latest development and challenges in assessing quality and safety in the health sector. Furthermore, more than 20 scientists shared their research findings, covering a wide range of topics related to the theme of the Symposium, in the form of poster presentations during the day.
